Eavesdropping on all things Berlin related
Chez Gino is a strange name for a Swabian restaurant. But don’t worry, once you step inside this Kreuzberg eatery, the decor prepares you for the food you will be eating. It is textured floral wallpaper & wooden furniture. An alpine hut and a walk in the woods. My favorite touch has to be the forest wallpaper at the back.
I have only been to this place twice, but have both times left very satisfied. On my first visit, I tried their exceptional and slightly unconventional Flammkuchen with Mediterranean toppings.
This last time I had something off their changing day menu, a white fish with jerusalem artichoke risotto. It was absolutely perfect. My table-mates had a big hearty salad and a delightful veal dish.
The conclusion: The tasty food, stellar wine list, a warm comfortable environment and decent service makes Chez Gino one of my favorites in the Wrangelkiez. I would bet that I am not alone.
